AP® U.S. History
The Advanced Placement® United States History course takes students on an exploration across United States History from pre-Columbian Native American civilizations to the present day. The course consists of 9 time periods, the first of which covers America right before European contact up until the first permanent English colony in 1607. From there comes a look at colonial life up until the French and Indian War, the spread of revolutionary fervor, and the beginnings of the republic. Period 4 stretches from 1800 to the Mexican-American War, covering Westward Expansion and the Antebellum period, while Period 5 is all about the Civil War and Reconstruction. The next period brings students into the Gilded Age, and the one after that examines the U.S. through the Progressive Era, World War 1, the Great Depression, and World War 2. The course ends with a unit centered around the Cold War, and finally concludes in the present day after a quick stop at Ronald Reagan. Our course is centered on preparing students for the AP® United States History exam, which consists of both multiple choice questions and free response questions on various prompts.
