Unit 5: Revolutions, c. 1750 to c. 1900
Unit Five brings students once more to a new period of time, the Modern Era. Students first learn about new ways of thinking brought about by the Enlightenment, and then the political revolutions across the world that these ideas inspired. The majority of the unit is spent discussing the beginning and spread of the Industrial Revolution, the technological and economic advances it brought about, and the ways in which the government and society reacted to it. Students should make sure they are analyzing continuity and change in the Industrial Age as they learn more about the effects of the Industrial Revolution.
