Unit 7: Global Conflict, c. 1900 to the present

Unit Seven begins the modern era, which lasts from 1900-present day. This unit, titled Global Conflict, focuses primarily on the first half of the 20th century. Students will first cover changes within empires from the last period before moving onto the first conflict of the century: WWI. The interwar period soon follows, characterized by global economic shifts and unresolved tensions that lead straight into WWII. The unit concludes with a focus on the mass atrocities of the century. The historical focus is causation, namely in the build up to both World Wars.
