Unit 6: Consequences of Industrialization, c. 1750 to c. 1900

As the title of Unit Six suggests, industrialization had worldwide ratifications that led to the growth of empires. This unit begins with the justifications that were used from 1750-1900 to rationalize imperialism, and the way in which states expanded to control land in which the sun never sat. These imperialist expansions led to indigenous response, as well as economic imperialism. The world more interconnected than ever before, the unit concludes with causes and effects of migration. Students should focus on causation in the Imperial Age, ranging from the reasons for imperialism to the global effects these empires had.
