2.2: European Colonization

Even though Period 1 largely focused on Spanish colonization, French, Dutch, and English efforts also had significant success. However, all of these countries had different methods of colonization. Spain forcibly incorporated Native Americans and Africans into their society, the French and Dutch relied on trade alliances, while the English lived separately from the Natives. Each countries’ reason for colonization was also different.
