2.3: The Regions of British Colonies

Four major regions of British colonies are discussed in the Course and Exam Description for this topic. These include the Chesapeake, or Southern colonies, which grew much tobacco, the Puritanical New England colonies, the diverse Middle colonies, and the plantation filled British West Indies. Due to Britain’s distance, each region developed forms of self-governing institutions.
