8.8: End of the Cold War

At long last, the Cold War is coming to an end as the U.S.S.R. becomes more democratic and transparent under Gorbachev, tensions between the superpowers ease, increase, and then ease again, and finally the Berlin Wall falls and the U.S.S.R. collapses.
