3.12: Movement in the Early Republic

An increasing number of migrants from America and elsewhere continued to move westward, leading to tensions with Native Americans and exacerbating the strain on British-American relations as a result of British alliances with indigenous groups. Movement west also led to debate over slavery in newly settled territory, resulting in different regional attitudes on the issue.
